Site News 6/10

Last modified June 10, 2007

After I conclude my current “final thoughts” series on the ANS/HKS saga, this site will be dedicated to discussing other social issues and current events. I will also add some literature to the mix, but probably in a separate section.   You’ll see the “topics” or tags for the ANS/HKS articles condensed.

There is presently some experimentation going on with theme and style, so please bear with me as the kinks are worked out. Hopefully, the “final” skin will be up in the next week or so, and better reflect this site’s spirit. It’s been more difficult than I imagined to find a definitive theme.

Many people have asked why I no longer have an interest in writing about ANS/HKS. I’ll discuss that reason in one of the final articles, but the very short answer is this: When it began to cause personal turmoil for me, I decided it was time to bow out. Hopefully, I’ll do that with some amount of grace, but frankly I still feel the effect of having been kicked in the teeth, so I won’t promise anything more than my best effort.

The ANS family tree page has been moved to the March archives (3/10) and comments are now allowed. There was a big brouhaha over whether James Sanders and Virgie Arthur were cousins. It has now been substantiated that they were, but I would remind readers that there was nothing unlawful about the union, and genetically the information is hardly cause for sensationalism. In any case, Kim did a wonderful job on this complex project, and I thank her for her hard work and dedication.

And about the readers that gather here — what can I say? You have been absolutely wonderful, gentle, intelligent and inspirational. I cannot thank you enough.

    Dear Jane,
I’m looking forward to ‘the change!’
You said, “And about the readers that gather here — what can I say? You have been absolutely wonderful, gentle, intelligent and inspirational. I cannot thank you enough.”
Well thank you for saying that, but I’ve often ‘not’ been so, wonderful, gentle, intelligent or inspirational…but I’m only human, and hope you forgive me.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to continue to be one of your faithful readers.
    Regards,
    Freida

Jane, that family tree is more important than most people realize. I look forward to your remaining articles and the revealing of why that “family tree” was so important to some..
