Jane,
I don’t know you personally, however, I feel I know and appreciate you through your writings. You are an amazing person that is so magnetic with a strong sense of right and fairness. I found your website in green background recently and was in the process of reading all your literary excellence and then it was gone. Will you have it archived and available. When I think of you I will send you a positive thought wrapped in the angels wings around you.
I’m so delighted with expectation to see your new website unfold with all your quests and with aand hope you the very best…fondly, Frani
Jane,
Thank you for coming back stronger than ever. You are a voice of reason in a world of chaos. I look forward to coming back to this site often.
God Bless you Jane in all your endeavors.
The way you put pen to paper does not show your opinion in a strident way. It is the exact opposite. Your talent for writing leaves me in awe and I have the utmost of respect and trust in your articles. It is so obvious that they are well researched and based strictly on the facts.
You have an uncanny way of writing that makes me take a different look at things with each reading. You are truly the voice of reason and sanity throughout this whole tragedy. You have a way of getting down to the bare bones of the story that I haven’t seen anywhere else.
I am so sorry that some people hurt you. It must have been so disheartening after you have put your heart and soul into this blog. It has hurt us (your fans) that you have been hurt because we know the truth and don’t want you to suffer as you write your insightful, well researched, provocative and compassionate articles. It is too bad that in this society, if you speak the truth and don’t follow the biased party line which increases ratings, you are personally attacked. Unfortunately even the mainstream media has given up any pretense of impartiality. (It constantly amazes me that TMZ, The Star, Page Six, rumor and innuendo are considered reliable sources) Obviously, the green eyed monster is alive and well.
I want to let you know that you have the unqualified support and respect of your fans and we appreciate all that you do. It is not my place to tell you how to feel but I just hope that you realize that we are here for you and I would do anything you wanted or needed. All you have to do is ask.
Kudos Jane - we love you and we don’t even acknowledge any detractors you may have. They are simply not on the radar. My personal motto has always been “consider the source”.
Jane
I know I have said this before, but I hope you don’t mind hearing it again. I have always been an avid reader, but I have never read anything like your articles. It is almost like I found you when I needed someone special in my life. ( not like putting on the pressure) I always thought the Internet would be impersonal, little did I know,I feel like I am getting to know a wonderful, compassionate, inteligent group of women. When I read their posts they remind me that there are people with strong character and strong morals. I don’t believe we are angels, except you Jane, but I think from what I have read, we have done the best with what we had, while working to better our lives for our families. For myself I learned to do it with my head held high. It is just nice to know not everyone posts on TMZ. Well actually when I feel like annoying someone, myguilty pleasure is posting on TMZ,they go banana’s.
Lynda, francie, thank you. . .it’s the group, including you, that gives the site meaning. Without that participation and the level of sharing, this would just be another writer’s web page.
Believe me, I’m no angel. Well, maybe a tainted one, with a little mangle to my wings, some rust on my horn. . .Wait, didn’t I just describe quite a few experienced idealists?
Still, we do hold our heads up high, knowing that we not only managed or survived, but that we didn’t let the experience burn out our light. . .never for long, anyway.
I think these are the women who gather here. The ones strong enough to have pulled through, but sensitive enough to have made it with their souls intact.
I am also a fiercely private person. In addition, I am not one who throws praise around lightly, certainly not empty praise for the sake of ingratiating myself. You don’t know me at all, so I hope you will take my word for it that the comment I am about to leave is very heartfelt. After reading Folly I wanted to weigh in on you, not ANS or HKS.
I have such admiration for you. Not just because you truly do have a gift for creatively writing in technicolor where I can only express in black, white or gray. Or because you have the courage to publicly subject yourself to critical review, a trait that I never deveolped the necessary self-esteem for. ( I’ll respond to but rarely create the discussion) More than that, you have the gift of being able to touch people in such a meaningful and sincere way. The fact that you created a website to defend someone you felt was under assault speaks volumes about you as a person.
You seem to embody all those qualities that we associate with your part of the country in particular. Humble, hard working, honest and good-hearted. You exude trustworthiness in a world that has made that passive, inconspicuous asset such a priceless treasure.
To me, your gentle nature and yet firm insistance on maintaining a respectful forum has made me feel comfortable to share my thoughts with strangers. You and a number of your “regulars” are people I would love to have as neighbors/friends who regularly get together to discuss in excruciating detail all the hot topics of the day.
This site has reinforced the importance of not feeling the need to pick sides early on, whether for or against anyone. Let the facts play out, keep an open mind, don’t be led by news media slants or carefully edited reality show depictions. I believe the “two source rule” should once again be newsroom policy and we viewers should apply a similar filtering standard in formulating our own opinions.
I look forward to you delving into other issues and I thank you for making me want to engage.
I woke up this morning to your post, and it put a lump in my throat that stayed as I drove to work and got on with my day.
I’ve felt that way about people gathered here — I’ve often thought how wonderful it would be to have everyone over for a weekend breakfast — and that is an odd thought for me because, as you know, private people don’t often wish for that kind of company. But there is something special about the women who have gathered here, some beautiful blend of personal strength and extended sensitivity, that is both warm and encouraging.
Your words mean the world to me — and I’m not just saying that to reply — I mean that they actually reached into my soul and made me feel a mix of gratitude, deep appreciation, and something like wealthy. . .blessed to know you and others, who take the time and care to let others know how you feel and what your thoughts are.

We've previously covered the fine line between investigators, a victim's family, and the public's interest. What happens, though, when law enforcement holds back not only critical detail, but almost all investigative information? Does the public have a right to know more about a murder and a killer in their midst? Does the family have the right to be fully informed? Please share your thoughts on my experience with being "Stonewalled in Madison County."

Jane,
Who was, or has been, your biggest inspiration, other than God Himself, of course?
Hi Freida,
I’ve had two inspirations — experience and ideals. Most of my inspiration comes when measuring one against the other.
Nice to have you on site, Freida.
