Announcing the Wrap-Up

Posted by Jane Devin

at 11:30 pm under Anna Nicole Smith

Over the course of the next two weeks or so, I will be offering my final thoughts on the Anna Nicole Smith saga.

I came to write about the various facets of the Smith cases when her lawyer/partner, Howard K. Stern, became the target of an explosive tabloid media, which seemed intent not only in labeling Stern a murderer, but in destroying whatever was left of him personally.

The embattled underdog has always brought out the fighter in me, but this case was exceptional for its variety. The many components involved were ones I had some personal knowledge of or experience with. Tragedy, abuse, ethics, unjust accusations, set-ups, speculations, rumors, the twisting of facts to lead others to draw bogus conclusions . . . this jolting kind of terrain is not new to me.

However, one of the dangers of writing on what amounts to one subject over an extended period of time is that it’s easy to get pegged into categories never intended. “Volunteer”, “supporter”, and “fan” are just three of the categories that have been attached to my writing and this site, although I have never considered any of these valid. It would be more accurate to say that I’m a writer driven not only by facts, but also by my own personal knowledge, experiences, and views. My motivation for writing about Smith and Stern did not come from the spirit of a fan or devotee, but from my own sense of right and wrong, justice and injustice.

The Smith saga is winding down, and I am convinced that all the pieces are in place for a fair and just outcome. The tabloid media has toned down the rhetoric, Dannielynn’s father is no longer a question, and the inquest, if it happens, will likely be without any new or significant evidence. The parties involved will go on with their lives, and hopefully they will be peaceful lives, without further public conflict.

It is simply time to move on to other stories and subjects.

The next several days will be a retrospective, combined with new information and thoughts. I look forward to wrapping this story up in a thoughtful and conclusive manner, and hope you will enjoy the next two weeks, as well as the stories planned for the future.

Jane, I am glad that you undertook to write on the Anna Nicole Smith Saga because I have been enriched by it and I believe that your writing helped to make changes in the way that a portion of the public has come to see Howard and Anna.
I have the utmost respect and admiration for your talent and I look forward to reading many more stories. May you be abundantly blest.

This seems like the appropriate time to wrap things up Jane. I wholeheartedly agree. The subjects in this have shown their colors. The famous and not so famous have revealed their pure or in other cases tainted intentions.
There has been too much mud slinging at mostly innocent members of the cast and even the extras. My hope is that the truth will come out in the end and those taken advantage of will get their day of retribution. Or at least, just a little bit of satisfaction.

    Hello Jane,

I think I understand the way you feel and it won’t be a wrap for you as a writer.

I wouldn’t have happened across your blog to me if the US news media didn’t lynch Howard.
I started with just Anna’s saga and I feel like I ended up with something much bigger than that.
You brought me a lot of thoughts.
It was more worth than just reading a book.

Thank you very much for your wonderful articles.

I am a Japanese, who lives in Japan.
I am not even a native speaker.
    The world watches America.
You were a ray of hope in this chain of extraordinary events….. to me.

    Best regards,

    Good Morning, Jane,

You are such an amazing writer. Your writings have really touched my heart more times than one. Your writings made me stop, look, listen and examine my own life. I know whatever you write will be worth reading. You are so fair and balanced. Your writings bring a sense of righteousness to me.

I agree with you that it’s time to wind down the Anna Nicole saga. The light is at the end of the tunnel. It looks bright for the one that I was concerned about. I think everything will be ok. As I’ve said before, maybe there will and maybe there won’t be an inquest. Whichever way it happens, it will be just fine.

I know that whatever you write will be interesting and touching.
I believe that God has given you a mighty sword with which to fight the predator- your faith. Remember, faith protects you from fear’s torment and allows you to face each new day with hope and confidence. Whenever and wherever you feel the wheels of injustice are turning, use your sword to reach out and help to bring out the “Truth”. That’s what it’s all about.

    Jane,

Your writing conveys a vivid impression of thoughts, feelings and images. You’ve spoke from your heart and touched so many people. You’ve opened the door for people to speak about things that are still considered taboo. No doubt that if you continue to write you will touch many more lives. I will continue to read your articles and am sure that I will learn something new about myself or perhaps teach me to look at something from another point of view. Good luck in whatever direction your writing takes you.

    Jane,

I agree with you that in the next few weeks more and more of the truth will be out and in Howard’s favor, is my opinion. I personally can’t wait for his due justice!

I have heard about this and Qv site being a fan site as well. That’s the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. People are saying that because they cannot come to the realization that these are fact finding sites and justice for the wrong doing of a human being. Just rambling because their scared of the truth I suppose.

I have truly enjoyed your site with all the fact finding information. Thanks for that. I started this for the justice for Howard K. Stern, and will continue to do so.

    Good luck to all,

    Michele

  11. Isabelon 23 May 2007 at 2:52 pm 11

Jane, I have enjoyed reading your writings tremendously. It was such a relief to come to your site to read truthful words spoken, and sense made out of the senseless lynching of a man.

When I read about crimes and injustices that go on in the world, I now realize that those incredible acts are committed by the likes of the people who blogg at TMZ. Their venomous words and deep hatred paint a horrible picture of human beings. I believe that some of those people are devoid of anything that is good and positive and take pleasure in hurting others, hence those gory, sadistic movies spawning with such ease and frequency out of Hollywood and elsewhere.

A brief note about me: I was a single parent for over twenty years, after a brief marriage to a ladies’ man. During my “singlehood” I dated a Jewish lawyer who represented people in need and who did not have the means to pay much. My ex-boyfriend cared very much for my two children but he was not at all nice to me, most likely because I am not of the same faith. In fact, I do not have a faith (my mother has enough for all concerned.) I believe that goodness comes from how you are raised, by being taught honesty and high values, rather than being fearful that doing wrong will assure you of a straight path to hell. Anyway, I stuck around (did not live with him, as I do not believe in such thing) for the next nine years, while taking emotional abuse simply because I did not think I would ever find another man who was so good to my childen. I WAS right and my ex is still friends with my children. In his law practice he barely got by financially but he deeply cared for his clients, so I can understand Howard K. Sterns’ position and lack of greed. I do hope he eventually gets the payment he deserves for working for Anna for free. Having been so involved in this Anna Nicole case has been difficult for me, even as I try to reason with those close to me who actually believe the trash that comes out of those vampires on the nightly news.

Thanks for the peacefulness on your site.

DITTO to all the above, Jane!

I *hope* that the Inquest will not occur, and that someday we will all read in the newspapers that they have cancelled it, due to new evidence. It still is a worry to me, and I hate that it is still hanging over Howard’s head. If you know of any reason which would make you believe the Inquest will not occur, could you share it with us?

    Thanks.

  13. Rachelleon 23 May 2007 at 3:05 pm 13

I agree–time to wind this story down. Enough is enough. I personally had no interest in any of the characters, including Anna. However, I sat back and watched the media pounce and shred and malign Anna and in turn, Stern. The circus was beyond the pale. When it should have ended, it did not, thanks to the gossip and tabloid people. So, the story grew and grew way into the realm of total non-believability, until Stern has become a monster, a Svengali, a Count Dracul and Anna smeared and morbidly gossiped about as if she were alive. In a sense, she hasn’t died but has lived on. For those who envy there is endless gossip and clinging to the vicious tidbits of gossip and rumor. For those of us who are sick of it, disgusted with it, angry with it and demand justice for those maligned and sneered at–there is her memory and legacy.

In the end there shall be poetic justice–I know it in my heart of hearts.

  14. EJon 23 May 2007 at 3:26 pm 14

I also believe it is time to wind this drama down and let it blow away. I know people think an inquest has to happen, in this case, but I respectfully disagree. Things are allowed and disallowed by God. He has the last word in everything, no matter what. I hope and pray that the inquest will not happen. But if he sees fit for it to happen, that things have already been worked out in Howard’s favor. Whatever happens, I believe strongly that Howard will be fine. This will be my final comment on this subject. LOL

    Dear Jane Devin,
It takes a lot of careful consideration, to write as you do.
You make it look so easy…it’s not the template, it’s the content.
This is just a personal note of appreciation and my understanding of your very high standards….you are a rock.

Thanks Jane for another excellent piece. I have so enjoyed coming to your site and reading your articles. They have inspired me, give me hope and informed me of the true facts in the lives of Anna Nicole Smith and Howard K. Stern, along with all the players involved in the saga. I will continue to pray for Howard that God will richly bless him in his endeavors to carry out Anna’s last wishes and preserve, protect promote her name. I will pray that Dannielynn will become a very vital part of his life as well as Larry’s. And I pray that God will bless you Jane and your family, as you carry on with your gifted writing.

  17. QVon 24 May 2007 at 12:38 am 17

Laura P. I know of a reason! Pick me! Anyway, the Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez was supposed to preside over the inquest. Remember when Majesty’s Coroner Linda P. Virgill opened her mouth and labeled Daniels death suspicous to the press? Well, old Roger Gomez got in trouble too. He gave Greta Van Susteren a tour of his courtroom and then proceeded to make some remarks that were not very “magistrate like”. What Gomez did has been called into question by his superiors and there is now talk about removing Gomez. So maybe now the hearings will be postponed and put off even more and then eventually dropped.
    I can dream, can’t I?

  18. Lyndaon 24 May 2007 at 6:52 am 18

Jane:……..I hope you and your daughter are spending time relaxing. The thing I took Away from this site is that there are people who can still see an injustice, and try to balance the scale. With your writings you brought together a group of strangers and made them into a group who will now know they are not alone to speak up when they see an injustice. For myself I reserved something I did not expect,by trying to tell other people to let the past go and see what the future brings, I have let go of my demons, they will no longer have the power to harm me. I look forward to the future and hope that you are in it. May God bless you, and your daughter.

  19. EJon 24 May 2007 at 7:01 am 19

    QV,
In reference to the inquest, you may not have to dream. It’s very possiblity that this could be a total reality. All things are possible to those that believe.

  20. flower-childon 24 May 2007 at 8:55 am 20

Jane- Many of your fans, who also happen to support HKS, are wishfully thinking that the dark cloud of public speculation surrounding HKS will just miracously diappear. Don’t bow out too fast Jane & Crew, it’s time now for O’Quinn to start the fireworks! Brighter days are ahead, just not for HKS.

  21. Laura P.on 24 May 2007 at 9:03 am 21

    QV:

Yes! WE can dream, and yes, I am aware of the snafu about Roger Gomez and his inpropriety, but UNTIL they cancel the Inquest, I don’t see how Howard can rest and get on with his life. It will keep hanging over him. Incidentally, where is he? In the States or in the Bahamas? The Inquest needs to be re-researched by the Royal Bahamian Police, and a recommendation to cancel the Inquest needs to be made to their Court.

  22. Freidaon 24 May 2007 at 3:27 pm 22

    Dear Dr. Phil,

When people say that Anna Nicole was ‘used’ it really isn’t getting to the HEART and TRUTH OF THE MATTER …

When you employ someone you “use’ them.

And her career path was chosen by a couple of dirty, ‘filthy-rich,’ WELL EDUCATED old men, Howard Marshall and Hugh Hefner!!!!

She was an unimportant little girl, a tiny dancer; blessed with beauty and charm led down a pathway to destruction and harm.

She was completely and utterly, privately and publicly abused. She was damaged, dammed to depreciate, and deliberately misused; she lacked integrity, honor, and truth in her work. She was a mother.

This woman was an irresistible temptress, a seductress, a siren call, a vixen…and she learned early on in life to devalue her life, she
existed on drug-use to escape the excruciating pain and shame.

She’s the biggest, brightest, boldest star above our planet right-now.

We forgive her! But, we are not forgiving her mother, her father, and the rest of that family, so easily.

Dedicated to - Howard K. Stern, Larry Birkhead, and Dannielynn

  30. Barbaraon 25 May 2007 at 6:40 am 30

    Jane,

You have enlightened all of your reader’s, with fair and balanced articles that touched and dealt with only true and evidentiary facts. The media has a tendency to choose a hero and a villain and then run with opinionated statements instead of facts.

With the “biological” Father being revealed (although I believe Howard would have made the better parent) and with the aid of Lin Wood and Dr. Perper, the media’s venomous opinions have lost some of their steam. Personally, I do feel more comfort and relief observing Howard’s role simply, because he has appeared to move on, and also; some of the so-called “hero’s” have revealed their true colors.

IMO, the inquest appears to be losing its’ steam a bit also. The reasoning for the inquest took a huge blow when the Medical Examiner found no evidence in wrong doing in Anna’s death. I do wish however that Anna had not been so dependent on prescription drugs…I think it took a huge toll on her and everyone around her. I hope that example is felt by many of her Hollywood counterparts. Anna had so much life and so much to give, if only she would have stayed around longer to experience that; the true love of a man and a beautiful baby daughter.

    Rest in peace Anna.

I agree. The exploitation of her deceased sister’s image is despicable!

  32. jonion 25 May 2007 at 8:36 am 32

    Jane,

I really can’t say anymore than what everyone else has said. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all you have written and will continue to do so for however long you continue your site. Thank you so much.

As I’ve stated before, I never even heard of Anna or Howard until I kept seeing pictures of her and Dannielynn and Daniel in the news and my son told me who she was. Then when she died, I started to pay attention to the story and saw how the media were crucifying Howard and I just couldn’t take it anymore.

I then went online to try and find a site that supported Howard and eventually found QV’s site and then your’s. I was so relieved to find that other people were in support of Howard and not trashing him, like I had seen on other sites. I could not believe that so many people could hate so much, someone they did not even know. I was truly appalled! I never went back to any of those sites again. I stayed here and at QV’s where we all were interested in finding out the truth and where no one was believing all the lies and hatered that were being spewed on the “news” channels. It’s really so scary to know there are so many people out there, that believe everything they see or hear on TV on in the tabloids. It’s also scary to know the hate they have within themselves. The time I had visited TMZ, I just couldn’t believe the things they were saying! They were actually wanting to kill Howard!! I hope he never runs into any of them or I would fear for his life. I hope none of us ever find ourselves in his situation and have to go through what he did. These people seriously need help. What makes them hate so easily and so deeply?

I will be glad when the inquest is over and hopefully it will be cancelled. I do think Howard would have made Dannielynn the best father a child could have had and am sorry he wasn’t the bio dad.

Reading your stories always made me feel so much better. It was so good to hear the sound of reason in your words, not to mention, the truth. They were comforting and calming. Thanks again.

    Joan S.

One of the things that LDJ talks about in his (VERY) brief interview with Art is the incident with Donald Jr. accidentally shooting himself. LDJ mentions that the kids were all there and that they all rushed to the hospital with VA. I can’t get over that. I can’t imagine being there and witnessing something like that. Larry also says that after going into shock about it at the hospital that VA never spoke about the incident again. Anna was 5 or 6 at the time. That’s old enough to understand what is happening but far too young to be able to digest and process. Is it possible that she subsequently suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? It sounds quite possible to me and it would explain a lot of her later behaviour in life. (PTSD is also suffered by many victims of sexual abuse). I’m struck by the violence and trauma of the shooting accident and the alledged response to ignore the event. I cannot believe that it wouldn’t have a profound effect on everyone involved.

As a side note - If the reaction was to ignore/pretend that the event didn’t happen - isn’t this a marker for the potential to do so with other unpleasant events as well?

    (JMO)

Micha said: As a side note - If the reaction was to ignore/pretend that the event didn’t happen - isn’t this a marker for the potential to do so with other unpleasant events as well?

    Good point, Micha. Thank you.

  36. Michaon 25 May 2007 at 4:04 pm 36

    Jane,

Do you know if Art Harris did a more in depth interview than the one that was shown on ET/Insider? There are so many questions that beg asking and the “clips” that were shown on these programs are so short and sensationalistic. How long was the interview and did they discuss issues in a more detailed fashion or is what was shown the crux of it??? It seems like such an incredible opportunity to talk to someone involved first-hand - it would be a shame if what has been shown so far is all there was.

  37. Jane Devinon 25 May 2007 at 4:08 pm 37

    Hi Micha,

Art has told readers that he will post more of the interview on his website later today, so we’ll get more than the couple of minutes afforded by ET.

  38. Michaon 25 May 2007 at 4:26 pm 38

Hey Jane…I’m sorry to go on but I have so many questions I would have loved to have asked…There is another thing that LDJ said that also strikes me as unusual. He said that if Virgie thought that he had raped Anna that she (Virgie) would have shot him. That’s a strong statement from someone who spent a few years in the home and has had many other years since to process the events of his life. She would have shot him? These are the present day certainties of an adult male who may have spent a few years under her care from age 10 to (I don’t know)? She would have shot me. Regina agreed? Horrible enough that the gun was in the home; but why would he be so sure? Was she threatening them with it as well in order to discipline them? Where does a statement like that come from? “She would have shot me.”

    Again, JMO.

  39. Freidaon 25 May 2007 at 7:13 pm 39

Sounds to me like Virgie was at work, or sound asleep.
And when she had to deal with the kids, she didn’t know how.

I hope you don’t mind me using your site for this, but I can’t log onto QV’s site to post anything. Maryst asked the question if anyone else was having trouble. I have dial up and I can’t get anything up on where to login. I Googled your name to get in here.

A video she has up, didn’t download. It’s always in the process, but doesn’t happen and also the sidebar where you click on to login, doesn’t come up either.

I was just going to answer Maryst’s question, but I’m sure she’ll probably see it here. Yes Maryst I haven’t been able to download anything. I can read the posts, but can’t post. When people put in links for videos, I have only watched about two of them in all, because it takes about an hour to download a 4 minute video.

Thanks Jane for letting me use your site.

  44. catttgirlon 26 May 2007 at 5:24 pm 44

    Jane,
I have enjoyed coming to your site and reading your articles .I came to your site because I believed the treatment of Howard by the media was unfair, unjust and not right. Your articles have been very informative and fair. Your posts about Anna’s childhood were heartbreaking. So sad because if the media had done a little research they would have realized that Howard really was the only one who totally loved Anna unconditionally. I also have been surprised by the extent of compassion and support shown to others who have posted on your site. I will pray that Howard is able to get through his grief. I lost my brother and mom in a short period of time and I know how difficult it is. When I lost my brother I felt like I lost half of me because my brother was my twin and he was also my best friend. The grieving process is difficult but you can get through it. It took me a lot of talking to for me to eventually “get it”. I hope Howard is able to ignore all the negativity from others that would love to see him beaten down. From an outside observer I believe the negativity stems from people who are jealous that they couldn’t find themselves a man like Anna had. A man who loved her unconditionally the way Howard did. The others are jealous of his intelligence for obvious reasons. So I hope everybody does ignore those sites and the posters. Let it all play out in the courts. If they were so confident with their case they wouldn’t have to post such mean spirited comments. With some people you will never win it’s a war of words not worthy of winning.

Jane, I eagerly look forward to the new direction you take with your blog. Since I am such an introvert and very guarded myself I don’t know how much I will be posting but I certainly will continue to read your blog for you have a fan in me.

  45. Michaon 26 May 2007 at 6:17 pm 45

    Jane,

I am so happy that you and Kim have finally posted the family tree! I would like to add some comments but there isn’t an option to do so! Will you be adding that option soon??? Will there be room for discussion there?

    : )

I’m trying to get the pages to take comments, Micha, but my web expert won’t be back until after the weekend. In the interim, if you have questions, you can mention them in this post, and I’ll direct Kim to them.

I can already guess one. Mayzell. Mayzell was in the Census as May Cell according to Kim. I’ll let her answer the rest.

Joni, I am on cable and having the worse time on QV site. The video is more important than what I have to say so I will wait. Can you see the video? It is really good, it shows exactly the way it was, Anna made the choices and Howard carried them out.

  47. jonion 26 May 2007 at 8:07 pm 47

    Jane,

Thank you for sending a copy of my post to QV. And I want to say what a nice picture of you and your daughter that is. It’s so loving and sweet.

And thank you for letting me use your site for that purpose.

And Maryst, no I couldn’t see the video, but if the language is really bad, maybe it’s best that I can’t see it lol. It was just that because it didn’t download, the sidebar where you click onto Jane’s site and also to login, didn’t come up either. It was like everything was stuck lol. Maybe if I had left it go for an hour they both would have come up, I just don’t know.

I have a very slow computer and do need to get some memory installed. Maybe that would solve my problem then.

  48. Jane Devinon 26 May 2007 at 8:37 pm 48

:-) Thanks, and you’re welcome, Joni.

  49. CJCarteron 26 May 2007 at 9:42 pm 49

Jane, I love the new pics! You and your daughter ARE opposites, but beautiful. And I really like your pic in about the author, it’s exactly how I pictured you!

I look forward to your new articles, the “wrap up” and beyond. I simply love the way you write. You always evoke something in me, whether it’s questions or emotions. I hope you’ll put more poetry on your site, too. Redemption is one of my favorites, but I also like the one about Vincent. You should leave them all up on site, instead of just leaving us one or two.

I’ll check back later for the new article! Thanks Jane!

  50. maryston 27 May 2007 at 6:43 am 50

Jane, I too love the picture, I am sorry I forgot to mention it; however I actually woke up the morning thinking about you two. I have to go get a new flag pole today to fly my flag. You are both very pretty, sophisticated looking :).

Joni, I don’t remember that many bad words, I think the purpose was to show just how much Anna ran her life. I actually only remember 1 (f word). I never heard her take the Lord’s name in vain. That is worse to me.

  51. maryston 27 May 2007 at 6:47 am 51

    QV took the video down
Jane, you asked for ideas, how about child abuse and the effects it carries into the child”s adult life, their spouse and children, great to learn how to break the cycle. Just a thought.

Yep, I agree. We’ll cover that.

  52. Michaon 27 May 2007 at 5:24 pm 52

    Jane/Kim –

I’ve looked over the family tree and I’m so happy that it will be up and that we’ll be able to discuss it. I have a couple of questions and a couple of comments in the meantime…

Why have you not posted the “Paternal Extended Family”? I ask because it’s very interesting as well. Virginia (Tabers-Dorsett), Melvin’s sister was particularly busy and noteworthy (LOL) as was Auntie Evelyn. Between them, they had 13 children and I have been unable (probably due to incompetence) to find a marriage record for either of them. (The children are publicly recorded.)

Re. the Maternal side…I found an unusual listing for Annie M Allman with a record of marriage to Otha E Nickels. It’s a bit strange because “Nickels” is not a common name, and I have a hunch that it’s a misspelling (more frequent than one would think). Evie Margaret (Annie M’s/Mayzell’s sister) was married to a “Nichols” and I’m curious – Could there be a connection?

Joyce Marie Tabers is actually, Joyce (Stephens, Stevenson). She married twice but I don’t believe that she had children of her own.

Regarding Anna’s “siblings”…Half or step…There are more. David Luther Tacker Sr. married Lena Marie Church (twice – no less) and they produced 3 children:

    Tina Michelle Tacker (b. 20 Dec, 1967)
    Dwain Anthony Tacker (b. 30 Jun, 1969)
    Michael Leon Tacker (b. 24 Nov, 1971)

These three are half siblings of Anna’s. I have no idea if she ever met them but interestingly, Tina was born just one month after Anna so, it would not surprise me in the least if Virgie and David Sr. did not marry…

Again…Concerning Anna’s siblings…Another was missed. Joann Hilscher (married to Donald Ray Hart before Virgie) had a child AFTER she divorced Donald Sr. She married Richard L Carbo (as Dixie J Greene) 26 July, 1973 and had another child who she named Richard Lee Jr. Carbo (b. 19 Aug, 1974). Technically, this person is not a blood relative of Anna’s but he is a step-brother in the same way that Celeria, Shana and Deebea are step siblings. (NB. The birth mother’s name on Richard’s b/c is “Jo Ann Hilscher.)

Also of interest here…Richard L Carbo was previously married to Donald Ray Hart’s sister (Thelma Louise Hart). Effectively, Jo Ann later married and produced a child with her ex-brother-in-law.

(This is all my opinion only and all information quoted here is publicly available on Ancestry.com.)

  53. jonion 27 May 2007 at 10:53 pm 53

OMG I’ve never seen a family tree loaded with so many thorns as this one lol.

  54. Freidaon 28 May 2007 at 10:50 am 54

    Dear Jane,
I’m ready to move onward and upward!
Let there be peace on earth.
    Happy Memorial Day!

  55. Michaon 28 May 2007 at 2:20 pm 55

I have to make a correction to the family tree information that I posted above. David Luther Tacker Sr.’s three children are not Anna’s half-siblings. They are step-siblings. I just wanted to clarify that. LOL! It all gets quite confusing!

  56. Kim Aon 28 May 2007 at 8:59 pm 56

    Hi, Micha,

Jane and I have discussed the Carbo “coincidence” (Jo Ann’s ex-brother-in-law). Also, to keep confusion to a minimum, I only included those individuals directly related to or raised with ANS. The extended- extended family, while quite interesting, is very confusing when written in a semi-logical manner!
I only included the relevant marriage and child of Annie M. Allman Sanders. Tracing the paternal side of Daniel Smith’s family is quite informative also. It seems that Daniel’s paternal uncle was married to the daughter of James Sanders’ cousin.
So you see where this plethora of information would become convoluted and confusing to everyone, including the families involved!
I believe the tree that is posted gives a good start to anyone who wants to explore ANS’s family ties further. It might even be beneficial to anyone related to ANS in their own search for “roots”.
I welcome any and all questions and corrections, if needed. I can only draw conclusions from the factual public information obtained through the internet.
And Micha, I feel your pain! You obviously have spent as much time traveling the information superhighway as I and are now experiencing overload! I am grateful to Jane for allowing me to post the info. I felt at a loss as to what I should do with what I had collected. I have since moved on to my husband’s elusive paternal side and am hoping to gather that info by traveling the usual way…. by plane to Guatemala, Mexico, France and Italy! Maybe even El Salvador and Paraguay!

Adios, Au revoir and Arrivederci, Kim A

  57. The Watcheron 28 May 2007 at 11:41 pm 57

I believe there is a big surprise coming in June for the Stern camp. There are somethings he forgot. Watch for the fireworks soon.

June will be a turning point & the inquest will have more persons to testify before it is all over.

  58. EJon 29 May 2007 at 9:02 am 58

#57, what kind of surprise are you talking about.? Who forgot what?

  59. Ahavaon 29 May 2007 at 9:09 am 59

A discussion group talks of many opinions, and is open to allow for many opinions. This is a brain washing of HOWARD is a good guy. How you all arrived at this seems bias at best.
Again as I said yesterday, I do not think Howard neither a killer nor did he rob anyone, but a “good guy” ? That with some of Jim Jones punch could not bring about any reality.

  60. Ahavaon 29 May 2007 at 11:25 am 60

    Freida;
You are so right nobody is a saint, and we all have made mistakes.
But this site is devoted to Howard for reasons beyond my comprehension: Is not this man an attorney who should have had another set of morals? Does this man not know right from wrong, having gone to one of the best schools? He can justify his many poor judgments if he wants to but we are just as much enablers if we decide to buy it.
Again: there is a difference in not wanting to hang the man because he is not guilty of murder or thievery. But to enable him to justify very bad character flaws is in some way scary.

  61. Michaon 29 May 2007 at 2:46 pm 61

    Hello Kim,

How nice to finally converse with you! Thanks for responding to my post. I agree with your general assessment of the family tree – it gets far too complicated once you move outside of the immediate famil(ies). These alone – are complicated enough (lol)! It is an incredibly complex tree and I suppose that, apart from the sheer number of marriages and children and the young ages at which these occur – the detail would probably be less interesting for one who did not get caught by the “genealogy bug”.

I am happy to know that someone understands me. In the end, I’m quite pleased that I embarked on this project…It’s given me a great new interest and like you, I have started on my own family tree. My family has not moved around quite as much as your husband’s has but I’m finding it interesting to explore nonetheless.

Congratulations on your work. You did a great job!
(And of course, I am looking forward to being able to discuss further if we get the chance.)

  62. A.P.on 29 May 2007 at 5:16 pm 62

    Hi, Micha,

I noted that Virgie married her first cousin James (Bo) Travis Sanders on April 4, 1996. He died five months later on September 23, 1996. At the time of his death his current marriage was not listed in his obituary. Am I interpreting the family tree correctly?

  63. Michaon 29 May 2007 at 5:20 pm 63

    A.P.

Yes. That’s what Kim has posted and also what I have found. Kim also posted the obituary notice - you can click on James Travis Sanders’ name to see it. Strange but true - Virgie is not mentioned there.

  64. A.P.on 30 May 2007 at 7:53 am 64

    Micah,

I appreciate you pointing out the obituary, I had not noticed that.

Kudos to you, Kim and anyone else that worked on this professionally done family tree. The extensive amount of time involved in compiling the information is obvious.

  65. Michaon 30 May 2007 at 11:56 am 65

    Kim,

Is there any other way to contact you apart from here? I would like to ask you a few questions about the tree but I don’t think that this is the appropriate forum.

  66. jonion 31 May 2007 at 8:04 am 66

    To Micha:

I appreciate the additional info you researched on the family tree although the whole tree, to me, is very confusing. Your findings made it no more so than all the rest. Thank you.

I’m always interested in hearing more, even though I can’t keep it all straight! LOL

To The Watcher: If you are going to say the things in which you posted above, would you kindly state what this is all about? You don’t have to reveal everything, but just give us some idea of what you are insinuating. I for one, don’t like surprises, at least not unpleasant ones. When a person knows something and likes to taunt others with it, not even giving a hint of what they are talking about, that is just plain cruel, but then I do know there is much cruelty in the world. I for one try not to participate in such mental cruelty, or any other kind.

If you know something, but won’t or aren’t allowed to divulge it, then please refrain from saying anything at all about it.

We all found this site as well as QV’s when we were following the story on TV and were all very upset the way the media was conducting a witch hunt and making Howard the witch and were burning him at the stake.I couldn’t believe things like this were still going on in this century, and what’s more they were, and still are, getting away with it. I guess alot of people’s mindsets haven’t changed through all the centuries and more’s the pity. They were calling him a murderer and just about every other name in the book.

I for one would not be able to handle something like that and hope I never find myself in such a position. The media should really stick to reporting the news and not speculation. I for one want to know what happened, not the spin some idiot deems fit to put on something.

Until Daniel and Anna died, I had never even heard of Anna or Howard. We may have gotten a bit carried away in our support of Howard and I, as well as many, am waiting to find out right here what has been going on behind the scenes recently and then I will decide whether or not Howard deserves my continued support.

  67. A.P.on 31 May 2007 at 10:11 am 67

    Joni,

It is apparent to me that “The Watcher” just wants to yank our chain. Their information probably derives from the tabloids.

  68. Kim Aon 31 May 2007 at 12:41 pm 68

    Micha,

Please email and ask her for my email. There are too many angry, hateful lurkers out there for me to give it out openly. I don’t have the time or energy it would take to keep their dirt out of my inbox! lol
I find that Jane and QV have been very brave in allowing these types to attack them openly. The hostility and voracity of their words should be used for endeavors that benefit themselves and others, not to attack people who happen to have different opinions and views than they.

    To The Watcher:

When so much is going on in our lives and in this country, some people choose to gang up on a particular person (Howard) to watch him being publicly humiliated and destroyed. Why don’t we take our own raw pain and work on it, instead? To me, your message conveys the picture of a feral cat posing to pounce on a bird.

Anyone can keep himself/herself entertained for endless hours while reading hate-filled posts against Howard in other sites. As for me, it was a welcome relief to come to this site where some of us can differentiate between fair and unfair.

How I wish it were possible for Anna to come back and straighten out all this information and missinformation! She often mentioned how people just wanted to take advantage of her! She had no idea!

  70. Isabelon 31 May 2007 at 2:23 pm 70

    Ahava:

Attorneys are held in high regards. Attorneys are also human beings with the same fibers running through their bodies. As a result, they experience the same feelings as anyone else. There is a condition that can cause a short circuit to prevent those affected from experiencing pain, but Howard does not seem to suffer from that condition.

I personally do not know whether or not Howard has done anything wrong; however, I empathize with him and it pains me to see the daggers being thrown at him from every direction. It is more than I could handle.

To see an educated man fall for a high school dropout who came from a sad life, may be hard to understand. I believe he was not aware at first what her history was because she was working so very hard at improving her life. Her ease with people and her beauty was captivating and once he realized what he was in for, he attempted to help Anna achieve her goal of putting her past behind and work toward the future. I can see that she tried to help her family, but when it became too much, he HELPED her insulate herself from that painful past and forge ahead.

I can understand how hurt and abandoned those relatives and extended family must have felt. They actually believed it was Anna’s duty to take over and soothe the rough spots in their life. Even tough that is not fair, they refused to believe that Anna needed a break and so they zeroed in on the person who was closest to her. If they could not have a piece of Anna, why should anybody else? Since nothing else worked, as a last resort they picked the convenient person — Howard — and began to tear him to pieces and took pleasure in watching him suffer. Once the media got a hold of that saga, it must have been a slow news time, so the media took advantage of the situation and proceeded to cannibalize him. After a while, it became so real, everyone got into the act, just as vultures do when they spot a carcass.
