I began my media career in 1981 as a traffic manager at McClatchy Broadcasting’s KOH-AM in Reno, Nevada.
I soon moved into sales and promotions for stations owned by Clear Channel. I developed successful sales and promotion programs for both local and national clients, including Wendy’s, Meadowood Mall Mall, and Harrah’s Hotel & Casino. From there, I became a media buyer for an ad agency and then the marketing manager of a mid-sized mall, serving over 60 merchants while overseeing corporate advertising and community events. In the early-90s, I moved to Caesars Tahoe Resorts, where I established a successful in-house agency for regional media buys, which resulted in a 30% decrease in spending while substantially increasing revenue for Caesars special event and entertainment departments.
I left the media field in 1994 to pursue other interests, including education and writing. I have authored two books and written materials for a variety of causes. I was as a short-term consultant for The Rosie O’Donnell Show. In 2010, I took a yearlong writing road trip (“Finding My America”) across the U.S., sponsored by General Motors and Verizon Wireless.
After many visits, I made Tucson my home in 2012. I enjoy that today’s technology allows me to work seamlessly for clients from coast-to-coast.
