Yesterday, we chose rationality over hyperbole.
We chose balance over extremism.
We chose truth over lies and dogma.
We chose women’s rights over subjugation.
We chose equality over alienation.
We chose acceptance instead of deepening divisions.
We chose to move forward instead of backwards.
We chose to vote against big money, Citizens United, and attempts at voter suppression.
We chose to vote against racism, religious intolerance, and sexism.
We chose to vote for an inclusive government.
We chose hope over threats,
humanity over corporations,
cooperation over separation.
We chose to vote for transparency, openness, and honesty.
We chose to work our way out of known difficulties together, to push through obstacles rather than invite new ones.
We chose President Obama.
I am filled with thanks and gratitude.
